This idea was borne one summer’s evening when a simple discussion about a career break took a more serious aspect. What started out as a joke has now taken legs and will hopefully be up and running, in the right direction, in a matter of time. Something which,I hasten to add, we do not have [...]
About Us
What fun would it be without knowing a little bit about who we are. Ellen and I are pretty open people and given that you will be donating to charity in order to subject us to who knows what torturous challenges we thought you would take sympathy on us if you knew a bit more about us.

About Ellen:
Ellen comes from Northern Ireland and as you would expect has a wicked sense humour. No! Really, it is wicked. If you can leave a room that Ellen is in without busting a gut then you’re not from this planet.
So what is it that makes Ellen so “Special” and more importantly such a great partner for this trip? The first thing that springs to mind is that she is a virgin. Oh behave and get your mind out the gutter. Ellen has never even been camping before let alone camping in a confined space with a relative stranger for 3 months in -15 degrees.
As if that wasn’t adventurous enough Ellen does not do heights, untidy spaces, cooking or the cold. Now I am no fortune teller but it doesn’t take much to realise just how much hilarity will be had at Ellens expense. God, you have to love her enthusiasm.

About Nick:
For my sins I am originally from South Africa and emigrated to the UK 11 years ago. Having settled in to the local ways and making some new friends, I soon discovered climbing. This has been the staple source of adventure for me for the last 7 years and for all the highs has seen an equal measure of mishaps. Needless to say there are countless stories of triumphs and not so victorious moments but it’s always been an adventure.
So why Road Tripping? Well, I have been around a bit. Ok! I’ll rephrase that shall I, I have travelled a little and love learning about new cultures and being active while away. I find the challenges different with every new place I visit and as many will know I love meeting new people. Combine those with anything extreme and I am happier than a pig in… I won’t finish that sentence but you get the idea.
What a lot of people don’t realise is that I am also quite altruistic by nature. So being able to do something I love to do and help others in the process is a huge plus in my book. But first task I think is going to be to help Ellen get used to the idea of camping. I think it’s safe to say the outcome of this journey is going to be something special.

Great Expectations
One of the main reasons why we are undertaking this road trip is to try and give something back to others less fortunate than ourselves. We had always intended this trip to be packed with as much fun and excitement as we could get into it. We also very quickly recognized that we could also do a [...]

Wheels at Last!
After what seemed like an eternity we have finally managed to secure ourselves some wheels for our little road-trip across Europe. Granted it’s just not as aesthetically pleasing as I would have hoped for but like everything, a little touch of paint will work wonders for the old girl! The next stage is to simply make sure [...]
